Meet Victor Frankenstein and Igor. The young medical student turned monster creator and his trusted assistant look every bit the part in the first images released before the movie Victor Frankenstein hits theaters this October. Take a look!
In the images, obtained by Empire, we get our first glance at the costume design and a sneak peek into the tone of the upcoming horror film Victor Frankenstein. In the first image, and of particular note, we see Victor Frankenstein—played by James McAvoy—with a pensive look on his face. Perhaps this shot was taken from a rather intense scene, as the actor looks deep in thought, obviously being careful not to lose the momentum of the intended emotion. The X-Men: Days of Future Past actor is known for his ability to convey deep emotions and in this film, based on the first images, he is doing just that.
The second image shows both Victor Frankenstein and his trusted sidekick, Igor—played by Daniel Radcliffe. Both actors are pictured sitting side by side on a bench. McAvoy and Radcliffe are seemingly in different head spaces, in what appears to be a moment in between filming. Whatever it was that they were each contemplating in that moment, it is very apparent that the costume design in the film is quite spiffy. Also noted, both the actors are donning rich-colored tailored suits, fit to match their perfectly coifed hair. But what is that over their shoulders?
Victor Frankenstein is yet another adaptation of Mary Shelley’s 1818 novelFrankenstein, but with an updated twist. This time, we will all get the opportunity to learn more about the origins of the young aspiring medical doctor who famously went on to create a hideous monster. We also know that Victor Frankenstein will be told from the perspective of Igor, Victor’s troubled friend who later becomes his assistant.
So far, there has been word on what the monster will look like, but it’s safe to say based on the images released already, that we are likely in for a horrific treat. You may recall the last Frankenstein film adaptation I, Frankenstein took the story in a completely different direction, relying on the graphic novel of the same name for the basis of its storyline. The plot of I, Frankenstein primarily revolved around Frankenstein’s monster. It underperformed at the box office and was critically panned. However, Penny Dreadful, the latest TV show to feature both Dr. Victor Frankenstein and his monster, has received several accolades since its debut in 2014.
Victor Frankenstein, which also stars Jessica Brown Findlay as Lorelei, Andrew Scott as Roderick Turpin, Mark Gatiss as Dettweiler and Callum Turner as Alistair, hits theaters on October 2.

MOVIE INFO :
American Ultra is a fast-paced action comedy about Mike (Eisenberg), a seemingly hapless and unmotivated stoner whose small-town life with his live-in girlfriend, Phoebe (Stewart), is suddenly turned upside down. Unbeknownst to him, Mike is actually a highly trained, lethal sleeper agent. In the blink of an eye, as his secret past comes back to haunt him, Mike is thrust into the middle of a deadly government operation and is forced to summon his inner action-hero in order to survive.
Story line :
In true stoner fashion, the upcoming cannabis-centric cinematic slacker project,American Ultra missed a more apropos 4/20 unveiling of material by nearly a month. However, more details about its plot have now finally been revealed. The main cast, reuniting Adventureland couple Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart, apparently looks to be going on a baked, genre-bending romp.
In a report by MTV News unveiling the first image and posters from the film, a rundown of the movie’s plot is also provided, setting up the crazy adventure.American Ultra features Jesse Eisenberg’s Mike as, you guessed it, a slacker/stoner type wandering aimlessly in a weed-fogged ambivalence. The only thing he has going in his life, besides a ton of THC, is his girlfriend, Kristen Stewart’s Phoebe. However, in a bizarre call to the hero’s journey that even Joseph Campbell couldn’t have possibly imagined, Mike discovers that he was actually a sleeper agent trained in a secret government program. Soon finding himself an inconvenient loose end by some belligerent bureaucrats, he makes off like a baked Jason Bourne and finds himself on the run with Phoebe at his side.
In an interview with MTV, American Ultra director Nima Nourizadeh also dished on the details regarding his upcoming stoner story, revealing some surprisingly stylistic turns. While stars, Eisenberg and Stewart, as characters Mike and Phoebe, are portraying young love with a Pineapple Express sort of flair, they also seem to be carrying a deeper human element to their insane story.

Storyline :
Ridley Scott is in negotiations to direct Matt Damon in The Martian, an outer space adventure project being made by 20th Century Fox.
Scott is sitting in the chair vacated by Drew Goddard, who left the project due to his directing commitments for Sony’s Sinister Six, the planned Spider-Man spinoff.
Scott will also become a producer on the project, joining Simon Kinberg and Aditya Sood, who originally found the book the movie will be adapted from.
Martian was written by Andy Weir and self-published by Amazon on Sept. 27, 2012. Goddard wrote the script.
Described as being in the vein of Robert Zemeckis’ Cast Away and Ron Howard’s Apollo 13 (both of which starred Tom Hanks), Martian centers on an astronaut who is stranded on a Martian colony and struggles to survive. Back on Earth, NASA tries to mount a rescue mission.
At 77, Scott shows no signs of slowing down. The filmmaker, who counts Fox as his home turf, is in postproduction on the Moses tale Exodus: Gods and Kings, starring Christian Bale and opening Dec. 12.Martian will be his 21st feature movie.
The Kabir Khan directorial is set to hit screens on August 28
Kabir Khan’s upcoming Indian political thriller, Phantom has been surrounded in rumours for a while now, owing to the repeated delays it faced. It was even being said that the film which stars Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif, has been shelved, until Kabir put these rumours to rest recently while interacting with the media. The makers finally released the posters giving eager fans a glimpse of Saif and Katrina’s looks from the film. Well, with the rugged, dishevelled avatars of the lead pair, the posters did their job well; that of teasing and intriguing us. We were mighty impressed by the way it captured the essence of the film. Unfortunately, the trailer fails to create the same impression.
The film, as we know, is an adaptation of Hussain Zaidi’s book, Mumbai Avengers. The story is set in Mumbai post the 26/11 attacks and deals with the issue of global terrorism. To start with, the topic itself is very dated, so to try to provoke people with a tag line ‘a story you wish were true’ does not really work.
Then it has that been-there-done-that element too. From what we’ve seen in the trailer, the film seems to have a remarked similarity to Salman Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger; from the story to the sets to the heroine. The only highlight of the trailer was Saif Ali Khan’s earnest and intense performance.
Here take a look at the trailer and tell us what you think of it…

Reconnecting with an old friend sounds pretty nice, especially if said friend turns out to be a generous and thoughtful gift-giver. But in the first The Gifttrailer, Simon (Jason Bateman) quickly realizes that his new old friend Gordo (Joel Edgerton) has a dark side — and that he could wind up exposing some of Simon’s unsavory secrets, too.
Edgerton directed and Rebecca Hall also stars. Hit the jump to watch The Gift trailer, and also to see the incredibly unsettling message “Gordo” personally sent Peter ahead of the trailer debut. Our boss will probably want to sleep with one eye open tonight.
Review :
The dog days soon will be upon us, and with them the dregs of American cinema dumped unceremoniously into the local multiplex. But you could do a lot worse than The Gift, a creepy, crafty throwback to early ’90s stalker thrillers like Pacific Heights, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, Single White Female and Unlawful Entry. Taken on its own undemanding terms and considered within its not very original framework, Joel Edgerton’s feature-length directorial debut is a pleasant — or pleasantly unpleasant — surprise, hitting its genre marks in brisk, unfussy fashion and raising a few hairs on the back of your neck along the way. It’s comfort food for fans of films in which mysterious presents appear on doorsteps, beloved pets go ominously missing, and an attractive woman taking a shower is the surest sign that something wicked this way comes.
Jason Bateman and Rebecca Hall play Simon and Robyn, recently relocated from Chicago to a spacious modern house nestled in the hills of L.A.'s East Side. Robyn is recovering from a miscarriage and subsequent depression; Simon is climbing the corporate ladder at a new job.
Refreshingly free of expository frills, The Gift gets right down to business with Simon and Robyn running into an old high school classmate of Simon’s, the amusingly named Gordo (Edgerton, sporting orange-ish hair, an earring and ill-fitting flannel), at a store. "That was awkward," Simon whispers to Robyn as they walk away, but soon enough Gordo is invited for dinner and the three are exchanging pleasantries over plates of pasta in a quietly unnerving scene shot mostly in alternating facial close-ups.
Things get weird, as they always do when a quirky outsider bonds with a couple of shiny, happy yuppies in these films. It starts innocuously enough with a bottle of wine sent as a thank-you, then takes a more unusual turn when fish appear in Simon and Robin’s once-empty backyard mini-pond. Before long, Gordo has turned into an incorrigible unwanted-gift giver, violating all codes of new-friend etiquette and prompting the slick, somewhat snarky Simon to nickname him "Weirdo."
The gentler, more melancholy Robyn is not as quick to write him off, seeming to relate on some unspoken level to his oddballness and air of vulnerability. Still, when it becomes irrefutably clear that Gordo has developed an unhealthy fixation on them — and is a pathological liar to boot — even she goes along with her husband’s decision to cut him off. That is, until a letter arrives from Gordo, saying he’s willing to "let bygones be bygones." Curious about what, exactly, Gordo is referring to — what wrong might Simon have committed against Gordo when they were in school together? — Robyn starts playing detective.
Edgerton, who wrote recent Australian noirs The Square and Felony, has a somewhat cut-and-dry approach to plot and character, and indeed The Gift doesn’t do much with the relationship between Simon and Gordo. The slight frisson of homoeroticism is never teased out (this is no Chuck & Buck, despite broad similarities), and there’s little genuine mystery or depth to the queasy rekindling of the bond between these two men.
But the writer-director knowingly plays on our familiarity with tropes of the genre, both stylistic (smash cuts, insinuating music, scenes that begin with the camera creeping down empty hallways) and narrative (interrupted dinner parties, confrontations in dimly lit parking garages, intrigue related to the main female character’s fertility/maternity) — and just when you peg The Gift as pure pastiche, you notice the film doing things a bit differently. Robyn’s conflicted feelings toward both Gordo and her own husband emerge as the movie’s driving force; what first looks like a typical male-dominated revenge fantasy turns into the story of a woman coming to understand which flaws in her partner she’s willing to live with and which she’s not. Edgerton also slyly alters the template, blurring the lines between villain and victim and building to a bleak, ambiguous denouement rather than the usual bloody cat-and-mouse climax.
The Gift’s dialogue is movie-ish — especially when Simon and Robyn are trading domestic banalities in the kitchen — but not egregiously so. Besides, that kind of corny blather ("There’s just something a bit off about him" and the like) is one of the reassuring pleasures of this kind of film.
The movie also benefits from a trio of sturdy lead performances. Edgerton exudes both menace and fragility, keeping us guessing as to whether Gordo is unraveling or in supreme control. Bateman shifts seamlessly back and forth between affable charmer and sinister snake. And Hall’s watchful intelligence and reserve make her an ideal moral compass and audience surrogate. The small supporting cast features, most notably, Allison Tolman (FX’s Fargo) as a welcoming neighbor and Busy Philipps(Cougar Town) as one of Simon and Robyn’s friends.
The ’90s vibe is reinforced by a conspicuous lack of smartphone use, though the socioeconomic clash implicit in Gordo’s face-off with Simon feels of-the-moment, as does the underlying subtext about bullying and its long-term effects. Still, The Gift isn’t to be taken too seriously; it is, above all, a nasty good time.
